How to apply beauty oils

Many women and men suffer from skin problems such as wrinkles, sagging, dryness, brown spots and freckles. Most people do not realise that beauty oils can be the best natural skin nourishing lotion for Hair, Body and Facials.
Beauty Oils have been found particularly useful for regenerating skin that has suffered from accidents or surgery, or has their remaining signs in the form of keloid, acne, or other scars. Certain essential oil blends can speed healing time, reduce or eliminate scars from recent wounds and even greatly diminish the appearance of old ones.
The skin is the largest organ, and is generally permeable to substances placed on it. This is particularly important in healing wounds, for the skin may be broken and more sensitive. Enter essential oils; these powerful plant derived medicines have been used for many years for treating skin conditions, enhancing beauty and promoting wellness.

Making your own Beauty oil is both healthy and easy.
You get healthier cosmetic products with fresher, natural ingredients and no preservatives. You don't have to worry about chemicals, preservatives, pollution etc.

How to apply Beauty oils
for Healthier-looking Skin
There are a number of ways you can use beauty oils on your skin.
One drop goes a long way so it is very good for long strokes in whole face and body massage after the shower.
Here's one method I use in the shower for a daily deep moisturizing and conditioning treatment:
  1. Shower (exfoliate all over your body at least once a week).
  2. When your shower is finished and while still in the shower and your body is still wet, apply your beauty all over your face and body. Massage the beauty oil onto your skin, the water on your skin will mix to the beauty oil, making an emulsion that penetrates quickly in the skin without a greasy feeling.
  3. Be careful not to get oil on the bottom of your soles as the beauty oil may make the tub surface slippery.
  4. Step out of the shower and use your towel to gently pat dry your skin. Make sure you pat dry and don't rub. This will leave a nice thin layer of beauty oil on your skin.
I find the best time to do this treatment is right before going to bed. I think this gives my skin some time to absorb the beauty oil overnight while I sleep.
Remember not to use too much beauty oil on your skin as it can get a little greasy; you want to strive for a thin layer of oil on your skin. If after a minute or two your skin is oilier than you’d like, just remove the excess with a clean, dry towel or cloth.
Depending on your skin's initial condition, you may find your skin will stay softer and smoother after a couple of treatments.
I think using beauty oils for skin moisturizering is one of the best things you can do for your skin.

Natural Healing Beauty Oils

Many women and men suffer from skin problems such as wrinkles, sagging, dryness, brown spots and freckles. Most people do not realise that beauty oils can be the best natural skin nourishing lotion.

Hair, body and facial oils have been used for centuries by the French, Japanese and many other nationalities but more as treatments rather than everyday products.

Remember when oils were a beauty no-no and advertising oil-free on a label was a licence to print money?
Up until a few years ago, the mention of oils in skin and haircare usually meant unwanted shine, greasy tresses and if you have oily skin, using beauty oils on facial skin will worsen their skin’s condition by clogging the pores.

Today many beauty companies are releasing face, body and hair oils and they have become the must-have pampering products of the year. Trends in health and beauty are placing more trust in the efficacy of natural and organic ingredients. Skin care is no exception, with more women coming to realise the purity of what they put on their skin is as important as that of what they eat.
The organic/natural trend has pushed beauty oils into the spotlight because many are botanically-based. They also contain essential oils which are not only packed with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, they are composed of smaller molecules for faster absorption by the skin and hair.

Certain essential oil blends can speed healing time, reduce or eliminate scars from recent wounds and even greatly diminish the appearance of old ones.

At Soapconscious we having making healing oils for many years for our clients, and we are now making them available from our website.

Australia is a vibrant , stimulating multinational society, a real mixing pot, I am myself French born, and I embraced the cultural exchange specially concerning beauty tips.
I have collected many recipes and the best healing vegetables and essential oils from different cultures and mix them together to create these unique “Australian Healing beauty oils”.
We believe the ingredient lists must be their best marketing.

Easy Natural Perfume Recipes;

NEVER WANTED TO MAKE YOUR OWN NATURAL PERFUMES?
They are so very easy to make at home and you will save a fortune!

Soapconscious is now stocking the ingredients for making real natural Perfume.
Aromatic & Exotic. This is just about as EXOTIC as it gets!!!
It smells authentic...like real flowers after a rainy day... not like a synthetic perfume at all
These natural tropical fragrances are complex, beautiful, wearable, and very emotive. These scents take you on an inner journey and evoke pleasant dreams, day dreams and night dreams. They are the ultimate celebration of summer and all it has to offer! So enjoy the warmth & sunshine like going on Tropical Holidays!

Never use the essential oils pure directly on the skin, not only it can be dangerous but because the essential oils are so volatile , the fragrance will evaporate very quickly. They need to be mixed and fixed with a carrier oil or alcohol for the fragrance to stay longer.

Easy Natural Perfume Making.

Start by blending just one or two to up to three oils. Your scent should contain a top and middle note, or a top, middle or base note.
In simple blends they may be just single oils.
A well constructed blend will smell like one fragrance. In a balanced blend you should not be able to distinguish its different parts. It may be soft and floral, woody, spicy or fruity.

Scents change and develop as they age, revealing the top, middle, and bottom notes respectively over time. It should not change from one scent to another to another during this time.

Top Note:
  • Citrus: Derived from ingredients such as lemon, bergamot and orange. They are lighter and refreshing and most always considered top notes. They are volatile and not very long lasting.
  • Herbaceous: These are crisp, leafy, greens scents. They are fresh, clean and natural smelling. They are very diffusive and make good top notes.
Middle notes
  • Fruity: Most often these are notes based on comforting flavors. They are perceived as being fresh, natural, clean and crisp. They tend to be strong and good for covering strong base odors.
  • Floral: Floral notes tend to be the most varied and are the most popular for women’s fragrances. They can be familiar, gentle, and clean. There are several sub-types and they powerful smell. They can be used in very small amounts in blends or worn alone.
Bottom notes:
  • Oriental: Oriental notes are loosely described as being ingredients originally sourced from the Far East. Examples include Sandalwood, Vanilla and Frankincense. They are long lasting.
Types of Perfume
Perfume alcohol
The difference between a perfume, cologne and splash is the ratio of water and alcohol to the fragrance. It has become virtually impossible to acquire pure grain alcohol for making perfumes. As a substitute for alcohol try to buy the strongest strength Vodka that you can find.
Do not ever substitute the alcohol with the pharmacy variety called isopropyl alcohol.
Fragrance Type % oil % alcohol % water
Perfume 10 – 20 90 – 95 5 – 10
Eau de perfume 3 – 10 80 – 90 10 – 20
Eau de toilette 2 – 4 80 – 90 10 – 20
Eau de cologne 1 – 3 70 30
Cologne splash 1 – 2 80 20
Solid Perfume
Solid perfumes are also pleasant to use and easy to make. A basic formula would use 80% of your favorite light oil, 15-20% beeswax and 1-3% of your fragrance.
Melt wax with oil, let cool, add fragrance, blend well and pour into container. Lip balm containers make excellent containers for this.
If your results are too hard, add more oil or less beeswax; to soft, add less oil or more beeswax; too strong, add less fragrance. As always I offer suggestions and a place to start.

Perfume Oil
Add 1-3% of essential oil to your favourite light oil. I suggest adding 1% Vitamin E oil as an anti-oxidant.  Essential oils are blended and diluted with carrier oils for safe use. Common carrier oils include sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, apricot kernel oil and grapeseed oil.

Essential oils. What are they?

What are essential oils?

The leaves, flowers, stems, roots, or bark of plants are processed to make essential oils. True essential oils can have healthful benefits, including relaxation, pain relief, and protection from viruses and bacteria.

The use of the word “oil” is a little bit of a misnomer, they are not oils in the way most people think of an oil. Essential oils come in a variety of colours and consistencies from clear and watery to dark, thick and syrupy.

Essential oils contain the true essence of the plant and they are often referred to as the "life force" of plants and contain unique and varied therapeutic properties.

Some essential oils are difficult to obtain though and can be very expensive. So, while they can be a good value, the initial purchase might be a little expensive.

Essential oils are very concentrated and therefore should be used sparingly and they are never use pure on the skin and they oils can be dangerous if applied directly to the skin.

The solution then is for the volatile material to be infused in a stable medium, most often in one or more carrier oils, so the resultant infusion is affordable, yet still provides sufficient of the original plant benefits for it to provide viable therapeutic outcomes.

Essential oils are blended and diluted with carrier oils for safe use. Common carrier oils include sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, apricot kernel oil, grapeseed oil.

In order to use your essential oils safely, it is important to use the correct quantity of essential oil in each type of preparations.
  • Facial oils face creams; 1% in treatment; 0.25%-0.5 for long term use.
  • Masks 0.5% mixed with vegetable oil
  • Eye oil and eye cream avoid using essential oils
  • Body products 1-2% is generally considered safe and effective for body oils, creams, lotions, ointment and balms.
  • Bath oils and bath salts 1-2% is generally considered safe. A lower dilution is recommended when treating inflamed skin conditions and a higher dilution when making bath for aching muscles.
  • Sensitive skin products 0.5% in some particularly sensitive and inflamed conditions may be even less.
  • Baby products 0.25% your choice is limited to very safe oils such as blue and roman chamomile, mandarin, tangerine, lavender and neroli.
  • Perfumes 1-5% in carrier oil or alcohol

Essential oils are also cheaper than Absolutes (also called "Totals") are oils that have been extracted using solvents (usually ethanol) or using Carbon Dioxide. When an oil is extracted using steam distillation we tend to find some of the heavier phyto-chemicals are not fully distilled and therefore the result is not a complete (absolute) facsimile of the plant itself, some plants will not provide a commercially useful amount of oil via steam distillation and thus the only means of getting an economical amount of oil is an "absolute" method.

" Which method is better?" The simple answer is buy the one that best suits your budget and olfactory sense likes the best. The complex answer can best be provided when you know the phyto-type(s) you are seeking from the oil and the result you want from each of them. These vary with each batch, growing location, extraction conditions, storage conditions, and transport and handling conditions, and the ethics of all those involved in the value chain

Essential oil prices can fluctuate greatly because of crop conditions or availability and some are always reasonably priced while others seem excessive. A few essential oils are less expensive than their synthetically produced counterparts such as lemon, orange, pine and some lavender but they are also more volatile.

A drop of pure, liquid essential oil on paper will disappear without leaving an oil spot when it is dry. You can use this easy test if you doubt the genuineness of an essential oil.

Fragrance oils are always liquid; they will usually leave an oily residue on paper, and are not as volatile as essential oils so the scents often last much longer. Since fragrance oils are synthetic, the available fragrances are unlimited, unlike natural oils, also they do not contain the true essence of the plants, they are usually worthless for aromatherapy purposes.

Some people can smell the difference between the natural and synthetic versions of a scent, and have a preference.

Your choices may depend on what you want to use them for, the availability of a particular scent or the price you are willing to pay.

If you just want a pleasant scent, you may use fragrance oils. For any other purpose, use essential oils. Keep in mind that makers of fragrance oils do not have to list all the ingredients on the label.

"Leave-on" products that aren't rinsed away, such as lotions and creams, need to be treated especially carefully in terms of fragrant oils, if you are sensitive, you are much more likely to have a negative reaction to fragrance oils than to essential oils

Whether it's to enhance a certain mood, is a treat to indulge in and brings a sense of pampering in our hectic lives, or someone just plain likes it, I truly think people actually connect with certain scents. Aromatherapy strives to encourage you to reach mental, physical and emotional harmony and awakens the body’s natural healing ability, to enable you to enjoy happiness, health and vitality!

Used correctly, it is a gentle and natural complement and sometimes alternative, to modern drugs and medicines.
